Are you the primary caregiver for a loved one and not finding enough time in the day? Could you use a break away?
Primary caregivers often experience themselves finding not enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks needing their attention. These tasks include running errands, grocery shopping, meal preparation, a myriad of household duties, what seems to be an endless list of medical & personal items, and of course caring for a loved one. All too often the 2 critical areas hit hardest for finding time are other family members & sleep! Please understand, taking time from these areas will make things difficult at best. If these circumstances exist for a prolonged period of time, it can result in medical issues of your own! Don't let your situation go this far! We can help in cases such as these! We can be asked to perform respite services, which would allow you to get away and tackle those most critical matters. Stress and the lack of sleep are common factors experienced when one family member or a close personal friend is the primary caregiver for another. You shouldn't feel guilty about taking some time away and re-charging your own batteries! Your loved one will find you a more relaxed, re-energized caregiver and be thankful for it!
How do you select your Caregivers?
Touching Hearts at Home is committed to choosing compassionate Caregivers that we would trust to care for our own family and loved ones. We hire qualified, reliable, honest and kind Caregivers who genuinely enjoy helping Seniors and people with disabilities. Each potential Caregiver must pass a criminal background check and detailed screening process before we even consider them as a candidate. They are also required to complete a detailed orientation on our company policies. Additionally, each Caregiver is trained in-depth on the specific care plan of each client they serve. Ongoing evaluation of each Caregiver/Client relationship ensures a successful match and quality of service.
Will I have a choice in who comes to my home?

Here at Touching Hearts it is our objective to set the gold standard for quality as it relates to providing elder in home care. Our clients should expect exemplary service and accept nothing less.
What are the methods of payment you accept?
The Omaha Touching Hearts office is Nebraska Medicaid Waiver approved. We also take part in the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging (ENOA) as well as the Southwest 8 in Iowa's Homemaker programs. Most Long Term Insurance (LTC) accept us as a provider aiding those needing assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Each insurance company and policy are different and verification of approval will need to be done prior to services being rendered, just to be safe. And yes, we do accept cash payment as well.
What if I need to cancel a visit or cancel service?
We request that you give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a visit or cancel service.
How do I make changes to my scheduled visits?
With over ten years of experience, Touching Hearts at Home understands that situations can change quickly. We will always be flexible and accommodate your request as quickly as possible.
What does maintaining ones independence mean as it relates to seniors and the disabled?
Throughout the aging process and progression of a disease, we all experience at least a gradual erosion of our sight, hearing, mobility, & flexibility. This requires us to evaluate and adjust our life styles continually. Some choose to simply give up on things they've done for years while others refuse to give in and perform tasks as they have throughout their lives. If we continue without adjusting for our changing abilities, we do so at an increased risk of injury. Giving up, or continuing to perform a task individually without adjusting until we just can't do it any longer, are not the only options!
Moving beyond the idea one must perform each and every task individually is much like having an addiction. Until we accept we need assistance, the chances of us seeking help are pretty much zero! However, if cooking is your passion, does it make sense to stop completely if you're unable to peel a potato, or open a can good. How about dropping your exercise and swimming classes you've done for years simply because you no longer drive? Do you know someone who passed on going to the zoo because walking for extended periods of time is an issue and they refuse to use a wheel chair! Life is full of challenges, opportunities, and experiences. Just because we have hurdles to clear, doesn't mean they have to become walls between us and the things we enjoy!
Touching Hearts At Home is a great option available to help others seeking some assistance in these, and many other areas! Those who want to remain independent are card players. They understand to play; you must do so with the hand you've been dealt. Those who don't, simply fold! Independence: It's easy! Simply say deal!

What is the difference between Home Care & Home Health?
Home Care providers in the state of Nebraska have a myriad of services they can offer. They include, but are not limited to: light housekeeping, laundry, companionship, meal preparation, & medical reminders. Assist with walking & exercises both physical and memory related, monitor blood pressure (with a family provided device), and much more! Home Health is generally used for those who require skilled nursing. These tasks include, but are not limited to: dressing wounds which require prescription medications / ointments. Transferring those who are not ambulatory, or have very little mobility. Changing individuals who are incontinent, just to name a few. Touching Hearts At Home can team up with any Omaha Home Health Agency to meet the medical needs of an individual. This person centered approach allows a client to receive those medical related services they require and permit them to enjoy our high quality Home Care while keeping the cost at a minimum. A general rule of thumb, if a family member or friend can assist with a task, a Home Care representative is likely to be able to perform it as well! This is not always the case and all services required and who can provide them should be well understood in advance. Please feel free to contact our office and we'll make every effort to help you sort through your situations specifics!
