Companion Care at Home Ocala FL - Unveiling of Molly's Statue

Unveiling of Molly's Statue

Touching Hearts at Home Ocala is proud to support all the work gone in to Molly’s Law. The statue honoring Molly, the ambassador for the Marion County Animal Abuser Registry, or Molly’s Law, was unveiled near the Ocala City Hall Wednesday, June 7th.

Sculpted by Nilda Comas, the statue memorializes Molly, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 15. Molly suffered severe abuse at the hands of a previous owner, and her experience was the inspiration behind the Animal Abuser Registry, an ordinance passed in 2016 that identifies any offender convicted of an animal abuse crime, allowing citizens, pet sellers, and rescues to verify they are not placing an animal with an abuser.

The registry and more info about it can be found online here: https://animalservices.marionfl.org/animal-control/animal-control-and-pet-laws/animal-abuser-registry

Ever since her rescue, Molly lived with Lilly Baron, president of SPCA of Ocala, who was on hand this morning to commemorate her friend. Several city, county and state officials were also in attendance to remember Molly and the impact she had on our community.
