Community Programs

At Touching Hearts at Home, giving back is part of the fabric of our company. An organization we enjoy working with is Caregiver Connection of Ozaukee County. Created in 2010, Caregiver Coalition, now known as Caregiver Connection of Ozaukee County, was created with grant funding through the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources. The core values of the program have always been to discover and provide tools benefiting caregivers, as well as provide outlets where caregivers can learn valuable information and locate resources.

The Caregiver Connection is comprised of volunteers representing caregivers of older adults, as well as local agencies and organizations dedicated to supporting the crucial roles caregivers perform in caring for our seniors.

With a vision to empower family caregivers, the Caregiver Connection aims to support, educate, and advocate for all adult caregivers, hoping to improve the quality of their lives. Caregiver Connection is committed to helping caregivers with the same dedication with which they help their loved ones.  Touching Hearts embraces and supports the values Caregiver Connection embraces:

  • Promoting empathy as a means of building awareness of the struggles of family caregivers and their loves ones.
  • Recognizing caregivers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, their struggles are common, and can be more easily overcome with support from their community and utilizing area resources.
  • Respecting caregivers, striving to transition them from living lives of solitude to encouraging lives filled with support and understanding.

As partners of the Caregiver Connection of Ozaukee County, we participate in steering committee meetings, support various committees, attend and donate to events, as well as provide respite at monthly Caregiver Coffee meetings.

About Chicken Therapy: Unique to Touching Hearts At Home/Milwaukee, we offer a Chicken Therapy program. Our Chicken Therapy allows seniors to interact, hold, feed, and even cuddle chickens. Studies have shown chickens help reduce anxiety, depression, and social isolation, as well as increase meaning and purpose. There are significant therapeutic benefits this program promotes, especially for those with dementia or dementia-related illnesses. Chickens often evoke a strong link to the past, as many of our seniors grew up on farms, helping them retrieve childhood memories, smiles and increased engagement.

The benefits of Goat Therapy are similar to those of Chicken Therapy, supporting health, engagement, and wellness for all. Goat cuddles are a new favorite for our local seniors!
